Trained target: Western pond turtle nests (Actinemys marmorata)

Jennie Kiefer is a Certified Nose Work Instructor and Certifying Official through the National Association of Canine Nose Work. Her new black Labrador retriever, Walnut, came to her from the National Search Dog Foundation after a brief tryout with the trainers at k9inSCENTive, LLC. Walnut prefers a more relaxed, part-time workload so this very seasonal gig is just a perfect fit. Jennie and Walnut, aka Team Walnut, are one of our incredible volunteer teams assisting with turtle nest surveys for the National Park Service.
