Trained targets: Western pond turtle nests (Actinemys marmorata)

Katie Smith works as a field biologist for the National Park Service. She and Nooch, her rescued Catahoula mix, are the first NPS staff ecological scent detection dog team to conduct surveys at Point Reyes National Seashore and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. They are currently assisting on the pond turtle nest survey team.
