Bolt
Cattle dog/ Border collie cross
DOB: October 30, 2012
Trained targets: Phytophthora (P. cactorum, P. cinnamomi, P. nemorosa, P. ramorum, P. tentaculata). Pima pineapple cactus (Coryphantha scheeri var. robustispina).
Bolt joined the team as a rescue dog from the Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah. She was quite literally left at their doorstep one morning. This little spitfire is always ready to hit the road! She has the stamina and excitement for long training days and for seriously detail-oriented field work! She is our resident “botany dog” and specializes in the detection of pathogenic fungi. Her excellent nose is leading research and helping to create protocols in the effort to prevent the spread of this infection into wild ecosystems. Bolt’s hobbies include dock diving, sheep herding, frisbee, agility, running, hiking and fetch.
